V. Dora Babu, BD IV, conducted his evaluation worship and sermon on July 30, 2008 in the Gurukul Schwans Memorial Chapel. He preached on the text, Acts 16: 9-15. I think this is a good sermon, Thanks to Dr. JT that I'm on his mailing list.
THe problem I see, however, is that the sermon can be distilled into a subjective claim of "distinguishing between one's own (or CHurch's) mission and mission of God." Given that such a distinction cannot be established in an acceptable way because of its subjectivity,it calls for a deeper commitment of a person to the "spirit of Jesus" to the extent he/she understands. FOr me the tough Job would be the willing ness of a person (Paul) to adapt and redirect their energies to fulfill the vision of the "spirit of Jesus"
hi,

Hi John,
Thanks for the comment. The distinction between one's own missioon and God's mission is not part of the sermon. That is my response to the discussions followed. You are right in saying that one's willingness to adapt plays a major role. However my problem is that we cannot easily distinguish between our self interest camouflaged as God's mission. Therefore the spirit of the Crucified Jesus must temper all our vision of God's mission.
